A babka is a sweet braided bread or cake which originated in the Jewish communities of Poland and Ukraine. It is prepared with a yeast-leavened dough that is rolled out and spread with a filling such as chocolate, cinnamon, fruit, or cheese, then rolled up and braided before baking.

Making babkas is a multi-day process. We first make the dough and let it rise overnight and the following day we make the babkas and bake them. It takes us roughly 7-8 hours to make each batch!

Our babkas stay fresh for about 5-7 days (if you can manage to not eat the entire babka in a day).

Yes! Our babkas freeze very well! Once frozen, simply microwave a slice for 5-10 seconds, or place the whole babka in the oven at 150°C / 350°F for 20-30 minutes, or until warm.

Babka Babies must be frozen in an air-tight ziplock bag.

Simply remove the whole babka from the pan with the parchment paper and place it on a cutting board. This will be much easier than digging a slice out of the pan.
